Check out this study from the British Journal of Dermatology that shows bakuchiol is an effective & more gentle alternative to retinol.
I literally made this product because regular retinol was making my skin super red & dry and I needed a nontoxic & gentle alternative.
“The study found that bakuchiol and retinol both significantly decreased wrinkle surface area and hyperpigmentation, with no statistical difference between the two compounds. However, the retinol users reported more skin scaling and stinging... 59 percent of the participants in the bakuchiol group showed improvement in their hyperpigmentation at week 12, compared to 44 percent of those in the retinol group... The findings of this study are promising for bakuchiol as an effective anti‐ageing treatment with minimal side effects…”
Be wary of some bakuchiol products though - many are just the oil of the babchi plant which isn’t necessarily bad - it just doesn’t have the same pure potency of actual bakuchiol, the functional isolate.
I swear this serum (combined with gua sha) transformed my skin, which is why I decided to commercialize and create Litte Lines. I never thought I’d be in the skincare biz but this product was too good not to share.
